My name is Desma Reno and I am the State Consultant. I am an advanced practice nurse certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gerontology I am a faculty member at Southeast Missouri State University where I teach nursing leadership/management, health policy, and gerontology in a new online RN-BSN Program. I am also the Director of the Institute of Gerontology on our campus. I am a graduate of Three Rivers Community College, Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Central Arkansas. I am a PhD student at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.

I have held a number of leadership roles in nursing organizations. I am the past President of the Missouri Nurses Association, past President of the Lambda Theta Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau, past Southern Coordinator for the Missouri League for Nursing as well as a member of numerous committees and task forces. I currently am a Delegate for the American Nures Association and a member of the Nomination’s Committee. At the state level I am the President of the District Eight Missouri Nurses’ Association. I accepted the appointment as the state consultant 5 years ago. I have been impressed with the student leadership in the way they have worked to build a stronger and better organization.
