President’s Bio
My name is Will Harris and I am from Jackson, Mo. From 2009-2010, I served at the Vice-President of MONSA. I have studied abroad in Mexico and Spain in order to complete my Spanish degree from Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO). Currently, I am in my senior year of the nursing program at SEMO, where I am the president of the local SNA and an active member in the Spanish club on campus.
I am attending nursing school to fulfill my dream of becoming a bi-lingual nurse. I want to help patients that may have difficulty communicating their medical needs in English. Careers in nursing allow for flexibility in job opportunities and provide new challenges on a daily basis. While in school, I am working as a nurse extern II and translator for a local hospital. I believe that nursing can help me obtain my goals of traveling the world and is well suited for my outgoing personality. Hopefully, I will survive my last semester of nursing school to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Wish me luck!
I became involved in MONSA in order to meet fellow nursing students from all regions of Missouri. Besides making lasting friendships, I have the opportunity to advance my leadership skills and become more knowledgeable of our current health care system. My long term goal is to obtain a master’s degree in order to work as a CRNA. Until that time, I would like to work as a traveling nurse and work in emergency rooms throughout the U.S.
