I am a new Registered Nurse, having graduated last May. I am originally from Joplin, but now live and work in Baldwin City, Kansas. I am currently a charge nurse at a children/ adolescent psychiatric hospital during the evenings. I make sure that 80-90 kids are taken care of properly. In addition, I am a nanny to my special needs cousin during the day throughout the week. I love to sing, play piano, and I have a new found love of crafts and making things (thanks to April Berry). I have also learned that “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).”
Post graduation, I volunteered to assist MONSA and was appointed in a new position as the Presidential Advisor. My role will be to work with the State Consultant in guiding and assisting the organization in providing services to Missouri Nursing students. I love to volunteer with organizations that provide assistance to large numbers of people. I knew how hard it was being a nursing student and needing support from friends. I have made some lifelong friends that will always be there for me through my work with MONSA. My long term goal is to become an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner and work with children and adolescents suffering from mental disorders. I would also like to do mission work through a church organization and provide my nursing skills at a clinic. I am a compassionate person that loves to help people of all ages. I knew that being a nurse would fulfill my need for caring for people.
