PR Director’s Bio

First, and most importantly, I am a single father of a 12-year old girl. In addition, I have the world’s most wonderful girlfriend, a pediatric nurse, and we plan to marry soon after I graduate nursing school. Family is the most important thing in my life. After high school I was extremely interested in going to nursing school but never had the opportunity to go. I worked in the real estate industry for 15 years and, after the real estate market crashed, it became clear that I needed a better plan for my family. I evaluated all my options, and found I was still very drawn to nursing because I have always had a desire to help people; to make a difference in their lives.  I believe that helping people makes the world a better place, and that sincere compassion can touch someone’s very soul. I decided to turn a bad set of circumstances into something positive, and I immediately signed up for classes at the Cox College of Nursing. I’m determined to show my daughter that no matter what obstacles you are faced with, you can still make your dreams a reality. I plan to graduate in December 2011 with my RN and immediately begin pursuing my eventual goal of becoming a CRNA.

I feel that it is very important to be involved in school and my community. I have served on the Planning & Zoning Commission for the City of Nixa for over 8 years, currently serving as the Chairman for the past 2 years, and I am the past Co-Chairman of the Nixa Economic Development Committee. At Cox College, I have the privilege to serve the President of the Student Government Association and hold a position on the College Leadership Council, and I am a past member of the Course Evaluation Team and Conflict Resolution Team. I am also very involved in the Cox College Student Nurses Association (CCSNA), Men About Caring (MAC), and the newly incepted Inter-Organizational Council (IOC). I plan to use my experience in these other organizations in my position with MONSA as it’s Public Relations Director.
