Northern Director’s Bio
My name is Alysa Cairer and I am a junior at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I grew up in Sedalia, MO with my parents and two sisters. My favorite things are reading, exercising, playing sports, and spending time with my beloved friends and family. I have a little white kitten named Gwyn that I adore! I also love to travel and have had the opportunity to make trips with my family to Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Egypt and Jordan. I even had the opportunity to study abroad in Lancaster, England my sophomore year at MU. At age 14 I made my first mission trip with a group of young adults to Lima, Peru. After that, I was hooked! I traveled every summer to countries such as Botswana, South Africa, Panama, and the Amazon jungle near Iquitos, Peru. These trips changed my life by opening my eyes to the struggles faced by people living in impoverished countries. It is because of these experiences that I decided to pursue a degree in nursing. This past summer I was so excited to be able to take my little sister on her first mission trip to Panama and she has now become as addicted as I am!
I have a strong passion for nursing and for students like myself to be involved in local, state and national nursing organizations. I decided to run for a MONSA office because I believe in what this organization stands for and I wanted to be a part of the bigger picture.
I plan to graduate from the University of Missouri with my BSN, and then continue on to purse a Doctorate of Nursing Practice. My long term dream is to travel on medical missions to Africa and to bring hope and healing to God’s people in all areas of the world.
