NEC’s Bio

I am the Nominations/Elections Chair. Currently, I am a senior at Missouri Southern State University (MSSU). I was born in Mexico but raised in Verona, MO. I completed my elementary and high school education in Verona but moved to Joplin, MO to attend MSSU. I am the oldest of four children (I have two sisters and one brother). I like to spend time with family and friends, listen to music and dance during the little free time I have. Although I was a bit nervous about doing so at first, I ran for MONSA office because I wanted to be more involved and learn more about MONSA. I enjoyed the conventions and wanted to be a part of the officer team that organizes them. I also thought this would be a good opportunity to meet other nursing students from all over the state.

I decided I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare since I was in high school. I participated in a program for high school students that allowed them to see what a career in nursing involved. I enjoyed being a part of this program and was involved in it for the full four years. After completing the four years, I was sure I wanted to become a nurse. One of my long term goals in nursing is that of becoming a traveling nurse. I would like to travel all over the country and if possible, the world. I love traveling to new places as well as learning about different cultures.
I encourage you to consider running for state office. Please contact me if have questions about the nominations/elections process.
