My name is Desma Reno and I am your state consultant. I am a faculty member at Southeast Missouri State University where I coordinate the RN-BSN outreach Program. I am also the Director of the Institute of Gerontology on our campus. I am a graduate of Three Rivers Community College, Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Central Arkansas. I am a PhD student at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. I have held a number of leadership roles in nursing organizations. I am the past President of the Missouri Nurses Association, past President of the Lambda Theta Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau, past Southern Coordinator for the Missouri League for Nursing as well as a member of numerous committees and task forces. I currently serve as the Chair of the Governor appointed Technical Advisory Committee on Staffing for Acute and Ambulatory care settings. In addition, I am the Regional Director for Region G for the Missouri Nurses’ Association. I accepted the appointment as the state consultant 3 years ago. I have been impressed with the student leadership in the way they have worked to build a stronger and better organization. I encourage you to get involved by joining your student organization. I look forward to meeting you and hope you feel free to contact me or one of the board members if you have questions regarding the organization.
